Mayaleaks, anticorruption portal, is presented

PROGRESO.– Last Saturday was presented the portal "Mayaleaks" jointly driven project by civil associations seeking to join forces to put a stop to corruption and have a space where citizen complaints are privileged based on supported research.

The Family Civic Front, Citizen Power Collective July 4, Citizen Movement for Analysis and Reflection, Teachers Network, Freethinkers of Mexico, One Million Youth for Mexico (node Merida) and the Citizen Observatory, supported by an undetermined number of volunteers, the portal opened to the public in recent days.

Ana María Díez, from Civic Front, said the site aims to contribute to the fight for transparency and accountability, disseminating information and reports in a secure space for citizens wishing anonymously filter materials documenting corruption and impunity, as well as develop in this way citizens' capacity to punish public servants who engage in such practices.

Additionally, it is expected that in this way politicians and officials will be pressured to inform their decisions and be accountable to citizens. He reiterated that the effort is completely nonpartisan and nonprofit.
